NAASC-Sponsored ICAR 2016 Conference Travel Support for US Students and Scientists

  • All Application Materials (including letters of support) must be received by email by Saturday, March 5, 2016 (11:59 p.m. ET). See application for contact information.
  • You should receive an email confirmation from within 1 day of submitting it by email. If you don’t receive it after 1 day, send by email again.
  • Eligibility, requirements for submission, and contact information is contained within the applications posted below.
  • Please download the application, read it thoroughly and submit the entire package as described by the deadline (including letters of support).
  • All visitors from the US to Korea are required to possess a valid, unexpired passport and some may also require a visa.
  • Procurement of new travel documents (e.g. passports) may take several months. If you are offered, and accept, a conference award, you must immediately apply for a passport (if you lack one) in order to ensure you receive it in time to attend.

Funding Category #1 ECR Awards:
Up to 10 Travel Supplement Awards for US scientists (graduate students, postdocs in a postdoctoral scholar/fellow/employee title, and junior faculty within first 2 years of first faculty position) who must also be US citizens or US permanent residents

  1. $1,000 travel supplement reimbursement to defray meeting expenses. See restrictions on what the funds can be used for in the application, linked below.
  2. Note that the entire cost of attending the conference for a US participant is expected to be approximately $3,000- $4,000 per person. This travel grant will be insufficient to cover ALL costs. Applicants must have additional funding sources to attend the ICAR.
  3. In the event an awardee does not attend the ICAR or fails to present their research abstract, they forfeit their award.

Funding Category #2 URM Awards
Up to 7 Awards for US scientists (graduate students, postdocs, and faculty) who are themselves members of groups under-represented in science in the US (as defined in the application), and/or faculty who work at federally-designated US Minority-Serving Institutions (MSI) Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU), and 1890 Institutions

  1. Full funding to cover meeting expenses including: registration, travel to/from the meeting, and lodging. See application for all details.
  2. In the event an awardee does not attend the ICAR or fails to present their research abstract, they forfeit their award.
